Green leaves, blue skies, lazy afternoons

I was stuck in bed for almost a week with a bad viral flu attack. Spent most hours in   slumberland because of the body pain. I have never felt so depressed in my life. It's such a helpless feeling, not being able to breathe, not having the energy to do anything, couldn't even keep my head up to read or watch tv or even Facebook.

I did have a lovely view of the chennai skies through the green leaves of a neem tree just outside my bedroom window and that took me back in time to home in Calcutta  where I enjoyed many a lazy afternoon looking at a similar view from our balcony there.

For lack of anything else that my weak body would allow me to do I reminisced about those good old days, those lazy afternoons. How I would lounge about in that deep cane armchair flipping the pages of an Enid Blyton adventure or an Agatha Christie mystery after a nice Goan lunch of fried fish, prawn curry and rice without a care in the world (except maybe that my math homework needed to be done!); the afternoon sun warming my toes ; The crow on the neem tree cawing away ( Sidney, I think we named him) ; the blue blues skies and that cool wind from the south;
Ah those were the days.
